According to a family statement on Sunday, the Japanese fashion icon breathed his last at the American Hotel of Paris, France. Born in 1939 near Osaka, Japan, Kenzo Takada arrived in France in 1965 by boat and continued to live in Paris. Kenzo began his career by buying a boutique in Paris in 1970 and launching the men's fashion line in 1983, and then casual sportswear for Kenzo Jeans and Kenzo Jungle in the 1980s. But in 1993, the deceased sold the brand to the luxury goods conglomerate LVMH and retired from the fashion field. Kenzo is still one of the leading brands based in Paris to this day.
