This Thursday's debate will be equipped with a 'silent button' that allows each candidate to speak without interruption.  -File image WASHINGTON:  The third U.S. presidential election debate between Donald Trump and his Democratic challenger Joe Biden on Thursday will be equipped with a 'silent button' that allows each candidate to speak without interruption. The organizers of the Presidential Debate Commission said it was an effort to avoid disruption and thus ruin the competition as happened in the first debate. The commission said each candidate's microphone would be turned off to allow other candidates to make the opening speech at the beginning of each 15-minute segment. The two microphones will then be turned on to allow the two of them to debate. The statement appeared on Tuesday, which is early voting day ahead of the November 3 election, with polls finding that Trump was lagging behind Biden.   Hours after a royal motorcade carrying Thailand's Queen Suthida and Prince Dipangkorn Rasmijoti was surrounded by protesters, Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha declared a state of severe emergency early Thursday morning, banning large-scale gatherings and restricting the media from publishing information that could affect national security or peace and order. Protesters have since defied the assembly ban and taken to the streets. Student leaders have been detained, and water cannons, tear gas and waterborne irritants have been deployed by police.
