COVID-19: Global positive cases close to 40 million, deaths over 1.1 million

This is due to more than hundreds of thousands of new infections being recorded within 24 hours. Johns Hopkins University's latest data shows the United States (US) continues to remain the country most affected by the pandemic. It surpassed the figure of 8 million cases of infection. This was followed by India with 7.3 million cases, while Brazil recorded over 5.17 million cases. COVID-19 infection in Russia surpassed 1.36 million cases.
