The 700-year-old Chinese classic painting sold for RM173.57 million

HONG KONG: A rare Chinese classic painting was successfully sold in Hong Kong for US $ 41.8 million (RM173.57 million) at the Sotheby's auction.
Citing an Associated Press report , the painting scroll entitled Five Drunken Princes Returning On Horseback was produced by a famous Chinese painter who is also a government official, Ren Renfa.
The painting, which is two meters long, is estimated to be over 700 years old.
The painting depicts princes riding horses with four of his assistants.
One of the princes in the painting was Li Longji, who later became the longest-serving Majaraja Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty.
In 1922, the scroll was taken out of the Forbidden City by the last Chinese emperor, Pu Yi, following the fall of the Qing Dynasty.
