BANGKOK: Thai government announces emergency order to curb mega protests in Bangkok.
Among other things, the order banned the gathering of more than four people.
It mentions several groups acting as inviting and inciting as well as holding illegal Thai rallies.The emergency order is effective at 4 a.m. Thursday local time.
Apart from the ban on the assembly of no more than four people, the order also imposed a ban on all media from publishing news that could potentially invite fear and affect the stability of the country.
Since Wednesday, protesters in Bangkok have once again challenged stricter laws regarding the institution of the Thai monarchy.
The protest started in July and was mobilized by youth organizations, students and human rights activists.
They demanded reform of the monarchy and wanted the government led by Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-o-cha to resign and subsequently dissolve Parliament to make way for a new democratic process.
