Thai boxing champion fatally bitten by giant centipede

KALASIN: Former Thai boxing champion Dokmaipa Por Pongsawang, 52, was reported dead after he was believed to have been bitten by a giant centipede.
His daughter, Jiraporn Moonkaset, said his father was bitten by the animal on his left leg.
After being bitten by the bite, the deceased was said to have not received medical treatment causing the condition to worsen until he shivered before coma.
According to him, Dokmaipa also suffers from diabetes which is a contributor to the complication.
Meanwhile, the Director of Kalasin Hospital, Pramuan Thaingamsilp said, the deceased died due to a severe blood infection.
Dokmaipa became a Muay Thai boxer when he was nine years old and won the championship besides being nicknamed 'Powerful Southpaw'.
The late however retired from the martial arts in 1996 and became a coach in Macau.
After that, the deceased returned to Thailand and worked as a municipal worker in Kalasin.
His funeral will be held in his hometown, in the Saelapoom district of Roi Et.
