APPLE last night launched its latest iPhone model, the iPhone 12, with an all-new design and 5G wireless network support. Also launched is the HomePod mini, a smaller version of the HomePod smart speaker at a more affordable price.
Let’s take a look at five exciting announcements from the launch event.
1. The iPhone 12 has a design with flat edges, similar to the iPhone models 4 and 5. The iPhone with a size of 6.1 inches (standard) has two rear cameras, and both are equipped with night mode.
2. The iPhone 12 has a "ceramic shield" which according to Apple, makes the screen more durable.
3. iPhone 12 has a smaller model, the iPhone 12 mini, with a screen size of 5.4 inches but has specifications like the iPhone 12 with a standard size.
4. The other two models in the iPhone 12 series are the Pro and Pro Max. Here is a breakdown of its features:
- The 6.1-inch iPhone 12 Pro has three rear cameras with low light autofocus capabilities as well as LiDAR (light and distance detection) technology.
- iPhone 12 Pro Max is the iPhone with the largest size. The Pro Max has a 6.7-inch screen, three rear cameras with a 5-fold optical zoom range between its three camera lenses.
5. The iPhone 12 series does not come with a wall charger or Lightning EarPods. Apple said this is a measure to reduce the negative impact on the environment. It is however supplied with a USB-C to Lightning cable. Apple also plans not to supply the two accessories from other iPhone models in the future.
