We have to learn to face the threat of the flu season, just as we face COVID-19, Trump said through his social media. - File imageCOVID-19: Facebook goes off, Twitter hides Trump's post
The social networking site Facebook acted to delete a post made by US President Donald Trump claiming that the COVID-19 epidemic was less dangerous than the flu.
The BBC reported that, in addition to Facebook, Trump's comments on Twitter were also 'hidden' behind a warning for being considered "spreading misleading and potentially dangerous information" related to COVID-19.
"The flu season is coming! Many people every year, sometimes over 100,000, even with vaccines, die from the flu.
"Are we going to close our country? No, we have to learn to deal with it, just like we are dealing with COVID-19, where in most populations, it is far less dangerous to cause death," he said in a statement on Tuesday.
To read the tweet, the Twitter browser needs to press the warning button.
Facebook's communications communications manager Andy Stone was quoted as saying: "We have moved inaccurate information about the dangers of COVID-19, and have now moved this delivery."
Following that, Trump acted to write a post: "Repeal section 230 !!!", referring to a legal provision stating that social media is not responsible for user-made posts.
Earlier, Twitter reportedly deleted all tweets praying for Trump's death in an effort to curb social media abuse as a platform to criticize the country's leaders.
The San Francisco-based company took action following numerous messages and prayers for the US President's death after he was reportedly receiving hospital treatment due to the positive COVID-19 last week.
Twitter, in a statement, defended its actions by insisting that the act of praying for the death of anyone was rude behavior.
On Monday, Trump left Walter Reed Military Hospital , Maryland after three days of treatment and announced he would 'return to the presidential election campaign tour soon'.
Trump's return follows when the number of White House staff infected with COVID-19 has yet to be finalized.
