MELK: An Austrian man on Saturday impressed the crowd when he was able to survive by standing in a box full of ice cubes, for a period that earned him recognition.
The Reuters news agency reported that Josef Koeberl, 42, managed to stay in the cold for two hours, 30 minutes and 57 seconds.
Wearing only swimming pants, Koeberl was covered in ice cubes up to shoulder level in a transparent box. During that period, both his hands were pressed to his chest.
The man managed to break his own record of last year, being in the same situation for 2 hours, 8 minutes and 47 seconds.
"This feeling is so great, under this sun, the warmth is so pleasant," Koeberl said after coming out of his frozen cage on a sunny afternoon in the town of Melk, on the banks of the Danube River.
His success was also witnessed by the crowd who filled the square space at the location of the show.
He added: "I can wear my own socks. The first thing to do is to warm your feet."
