SYDNEY: After Singapore Airlines (SIA), Australian airline Qantas has also taken the initiative to introduce non-directional flights.
In contrast to the SIA, the Qantas travel time is seven hours longer.
It turned out to be very well received, especially among those who 'gian' to travel by plane.
A total of 196 tickets for the three flight classes, which will depart on October 10, were sold out within 10 minutes.
"This is probably the best-selling flight ticket in Qantas history," the airline's CEO, Alan Joyce, said in a statement.
"People are longing to return to the experience of flying by plane. If there is a demand, we will consider holding more flights like this, while waiting for the border to open," Joyce added.
Flights will be made using Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft, which are commonly used for intercontinental travel.
The flight will cover Australia’s unique destinations across Queensland, Northern Territory and New South Wales including the iconic Great Barrier Reef, Uluru, Kata Tjuta, Byron Bay and Sydney Harbor.
