ISLAMABAD: Tens of thousands took to the streets across Pakistan to condemn the actions of French satirist weekly newspaper publisher Charlie Hebdo who reprinted a controversial cartoon insulting the Prophet Muhammad.
Earlier this week, Charlie Hebdo republished the cartoon.
It marks the beginning of the trial of siblings, Said and Cherif Kouachi who were accused of carrying out an armed attack at the press office in Paris five years ago.
In the January 7, 2015 attack, 12 people, including some leading French cartoonists, were killed.
The cover of the latest Charlie Hebdo issue features 12 cartoons first published in the Danish daily Jyllands-Posten in 2005 and reprinted by Charlie Hebdo in 2006 which angered Muslims around the world.
The Pakistani government also condemned the reprinting of the cartoon.
