NEW COVID-19 infection figures worldwide continue to increase with over 350,000 positive cases recorded within 24 hours.
This brings the global cumulative volume to 28.04 million so far.
Johns Hopkins University's latest data shows that the United States remains the worst-affected country with 6.38 million cases.
This was followed by India with 4.46 million infections, while Brazil, 4.19 million.
COVID-19 infection in Russia has surpassed one million cases.
Meanwhile, Peru, Columbia, South Africa, Mexico, Spain, and Argentina surpassed half a million cases.
Countries that exceed 300,000 include Chile, Iran, France, the United Kingdom, Bangladesh, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan.
Six other countries recorded positive numbers in excess of 200,000 including Turkey, Italy, Iraq, Germany, the Philippines and Indonesia.
Meanwhile, the countries that exceeded 100,000 cases of COVID-19 infection are Ukraine, Canada, Qatar, Bolivia, Ecuador Kazakhstan and Egypt
Other countries still record positive numbers below 100,000.
