UTTAR PRADESH: A doctor in India lost more than US41,600 after paying an advance to buy "Aladdin's lamp" which is claimed to be able to provide wealth and health.
The suspects are two men who claim that the lights they sell are capable of producing the 'spirit' just like in the fairy tale Aladdin.
The two men reportedly sold the 'magic' lamp for US $ 200,000  with an advance of US $ 41,600.
According to NDTV, the victim, who realized he had been deceived, had lodged a complaint in Meerut, west of Uttar Pradesh.
According to the victim, he met the suspect while treating a woman who was allegedly the mother of the two men involved.
"They told me about the gods who visited their house, and influenced me to come to the house to perform rituals," the victim told NDTV.
The victim said in a ritual at the two men's house, 'Aladdin' actually made an appearance in front of him.
"I only realized that the veiled suspect was disguised as dressed like Aladdin," explained the victim.
Following the victim's report, two suspects were arrested in Uttar Pradesh.
However, the third suspect who is a woman is still at large.
