FOLLOWING the prediction, Spanish tennis champion Rafael Nadal won the men's singles title of the 2020 French Open on Sunday in the action against world number one Novak Djokovic.
Nadal's victory thus matched Roger Federer's victory record from Switzerland with 20 Grand Slam trophies so far, the highest in the Open Era for the men's singles category.
The action, which lasted for 2 hours and 41 minutes, saw Nadal win easily over the Serbian champion with a straight set of 6-0, 6-2 and 7-5 at the Stade Roland-Garros, Paris.
The third set, which is also the deciding set, shows Djokovic's rise but Nadal did not let the pace of progress prevent his mission from winning the 13th title at the clay court.
This victory clearly proves that Djokovic has not yet managed to dominate the clay court like his strong dominance on the Australian Open stage with eight trophies of victory so far and the last time he did so was through this year's edition in Melbourne.
Djokovic has so far only won the French Open trophy in 2016 in action against Andy Murray.
A glimpse of the fact, the first time Nadal or his title "King of Clay" won the French Open was in 2005 when he was 19 years old after first participating in the championship.
Nadal further continued to be consistent when he successfully defended his championship in the same court in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020.
The action on the final stage just now is the meeting of these two tennis giants for the 56th time with Djokovic recording 29 wins compared to 27 by Nadal.
