Madrid enforced a curfew, affecting more than 5 million people

MADRID: The new enforcement implemented by Madrid on Friday affected nearly five million people in the city and nine other neighboring cities.
On Friday, Madrid carried out a curfew for the second time after the number of infections in Spain reached 810,807 cases.
Residents in Madrid have been banned from leaving the region since Friday night, making it the first European capital to re-enforce a curfew following an increase in cases.

Residents are advised not to leave the house unless absolutely necessary, and the police have also set up checkpoints to control the main entrances and exits of the city.
Madrid recorded more than 2.2 million trips a day between the city and other districts in the region.
Meanwhile, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez stressed that the increasing numbers indicate that the government needs to realize how serious COVID-19 is.
